Effective Date: September 1, 2026
Reczt (“Reczt,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) is operated by Leslie Kane. This Privacy Policy explains how Reczt handles information when you use the Reczt mobile application and related song-recognition services.
If you have questions about this Privacy Policy, contact us at recztsupport@gmail.com.
Reczt is a general-audience song-recognition app. Reczt does not require a Reczt account. Reczt is free to use and does not contain advertising, subscriptions, or in-app purchases.
Reczt does not sell personal information, does not use personal information for targeted advertising, and does not track users across other companies’ apps or websites for advertising purposes.
Reczt processes limited information needed to recognize songs and provide app features. Some information stays only on your device, while some information is transmitted to service providers to perform song recognition or related functions.
When you choose to identify a song, Reczt records audio from your microphone.
When you are online, the recording is transmitted to Reczt’s recognition backend for the purpose of identifying the song. The backend creates temporary audio files while the recognition request is being processed. Those temporary files are designed to be deleted when the request ends.
When you make a recording while offline, Reczt first stores the queued recording locally on your device. On iOS, Reczt may schedule a system-managed background upload. The operating system can wait for connectivity and upload the queued recording after an internet connection becomes available, even while Reczt is not in the foreground. Once the upload reaches Reczt’s backend, the server performs the recognition work. Reczt does not intentionally maintain a permanent server-side library of queued recordings. The uploaded audio is held only in temporary processing files for the recognition request and is designed to be deleted when that request ends.
If an offline recording is successfully recognized, Reczt may keep a copy of your singing clip locally on your device as part of your Reczt history so you can replay it later. Local clips remain on your device until you delete the relevant history item, clear Reczt data, or remove the app.
If you allow notifications, Reczt may ask iOS to display a local notification when a queued offline recording finishes processing successfully. The notification may contain the recognized song title and artist so the result is useful without opening the app.
This notification is scheduled on the device after the background upload receives the recognition response. Reczt does not need to send a push-notification device token to its backend for this feature. You can control Reczt notification permissions in iOS Settings.
Reczt may send audio to third-party service providers to identify the song:
Reczt does not intentionally write the content of Groq transcriptions or users’ raw recordings into its own production application logs.
Reczt may send song titles and artist names to Spotify and Apple services to find canonical song information, links, artwork, genres, or other music metadata.
If you choose to create a Spotify playlist from Reczt history, Reczt uses Spotify’s authorization process to request the permissions needed to create or modify playlists. Reczt does not receive or store your Spotify password. In the current app, the Spotify access token used for playlist creation is used for that authorization session and is not intentionally stored as a persistent Reczt credential.
Your use of Spotify, Apple Music, and other third-party music services is also governed by those providers’ own terms and privacy policies.
If you grant location permission, Reczt may access your device location when you begin a singing session so the Acoustic Memory map can remember where you have used Reczt.
Acoustic Memory location information is stored locally on your device using compact approximate location buckets rather than maintaining a permanent server-side location history. Reczt’s current recognition requests do not send your Acoustic Memory latitude or longitude to Reczt’s recognition backend.
You can deny or revoke Reczt’s location permission through iOS Settings. Reczt’s core song-recognition feature can still function without the Acoustic Memory location feature.
If Auto Play is enabled and Reczt needs you to choose between two possible song matches, Reczt may ask you to say “first” or “second.”
This feature uses Apple’s Speech framework. Apple states that speech recognition performed with SFSpeechRecognizer may capture your voice audio and send it to Apple’s servers for processing. iOS asks for your permission before Reczt uses this feature.
Reczt stores certain information locally on your device so the app can function, including items such as:
History entries may include a local “Found Offline” flag so Reczt can show which results came from the offline queue.
This information is used to provide Reczt’s features and is not used for advertising.
Reczt and its hosting or network providers may process ordinary technical request information needed to deliver and protect the service, such as IP address, request timing, service status, device/network connectivity information, or error information.
Reczt does not use this information to create advertising profiles.
Reczt uses information only as reasonably necessary to:
Depending on the feature you use, information may be processed by service providers including:
These companies process information under their own agreements and privacy practices. Reczt uses these services only for app functionality and does not authorize them to use Reczt data for Reczt advertising.
Reczt is designed to minimize server-side retention.
Reczt does not currently maintain a Reczt user account or a server-side user profile that requires a separate account-deletion process.
You control whether Reczt can use microphone, location, notifications, speech-recognition, Bluetooth, and Siri-related permissions through iOS.
